Watching Cain, one of my favorite fighters, get destroyed in under a minute of the first round, made me question why I keep getting invested in these fights. Connor getting manhandled by Khabib. Chael getting outclassed again and again. Overeem knocked out senseless for God knows how many times. So many hopes - build up by a very transparent hype machine - violently squashed.

The brutal essence of MMA makes it difficult being a fan of certain fighters every now and then. On the other hand,...
