Are we witnessing the biggest rivalry in the history of MMA...

With Khabib and McGregor?

I can't recall 2 guys in mma hating one another this much. From dollies being thrown and family members getting insulted to death threats and teams jumping in the cage which was planned according to Khabib.

These two make DC and Jones look like gym buddies.

Are Khabib and Conor the biggest rivalry in mma history? (By biggest i mean, the baddest blood' lol)
And what about combat sports history? Boxing included of course..

Relatively liked/"likeable" fighters in the mma community that you just don't like for some reason

My pick is Brian Ortega.
Don't know what it is. He just comes off as disingenuous to me. Has this sly, asshole look in his eyes and he seems pretty dumb when he speaks. Not the brightest dude. Can't fuck with him.

Dude recently did an interview and was asked for his thoughts on the Max x Dustin fight and he said Max did good, and he liked how Max picked up "those uppercuts from him" . Sleazy, little, hoe shit like that.

What about you?

Why did MMA/Kickboxing lose popularity in Japan?

I've been a huge fan of the sport for the better part of two decades, and was recently re-watching Hoost vs. Lebanner in the 1999 K1 GP Final.

The stadium was PACKED and the atmosphere looked electric. This was before any sort of social media, so the enthusiasm and love for the sport seemed organic.

When I first started following the sport seriously in the early 2000s, the NYE shows between K1 and Pride would be massive events, often the highest rated programs on Japanese television (I...

Why did MMA/Kickboxing lose popularity in Japan?

Is MMA/Boxing a net plus or a net minus for society?

On one hand, these 2 sports produce thousands of cases of CTE.

On the other hand, these 2 sports create economic value for everybody involved.

Thoughts?

Who has the best boxing in mma right now?

I’d probably pick Dustin right now

Nick Diaz is the wisest fighter in MMA (why hes a vegan)

Dude explains why he's vegan.
Reasoning is on point.
you are what you eat.
if you eat unnatural shit, you will be unnatural shit.

if you eat natural, you will be natural.
when you do something good in something you've never tried...
one might tell you "dude, you're a natural"
in other words, natural = good... unnatural = bad.

EDIT: yes... the animals we consume are unnatural because they inject them with shit for them to grow bigger so more food to give out.

Joe Rogan Not Happy with New Movie That Makes a Mockery of MMA Legend Bruce Lee

“That was fu**ed up. He was a dummy in the movie. The problem was in real life, there was no evidence that he was an egomaniac dummy. He was a very interesting guy. Very insightful.”

In Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Bruce Lee (played by Mike Moh) fights Cliff Booth (played by Brad Pitt). At first, Lee knocks down Booth. In the second round, Booth launches Lee into a car. They then continue to strike each other before the fight is interrupted. The Bruce Lee character is presented as...

People who you think would have been good at mma..

Perhaps because of some trait, for instance David Goggins became a Navy Seal than ran crazy triathlons where he was injured bad and kept going, who knows if he would have been if he trained mma but he sure has mental toughness, certainly a trait that would have at least allowed to to take punishment and not quit.

So any athletes, actors, or other big name people you think could have made it in mma?

MMA Expert: Askren Should Quit MMA Now

Askren, the former Bellator and ONE welterweight champion, signed with the UFC last year after years of calling for his shot. Through two octagon appearances now, against Robbie Lawler and Masvidal, Askren has been mostly dominated and won his debut in controversial fashion. Which begs the question: Where does he go from here? MMA Junkie’s Steven Marrocco and Nolan King...

Steven Marrocco: Askren probably should quit.

I’m of two minds on what should be next for...

Up and coming fighters you feel are slept on or not known as much as they should be?

I was just thinking about this with the prelims thread and was wondering which fighters you feel are either not known enough and you feel should be or fighters that are just generally slept on.

A good example of this is Dan Hooker who up until recently I feel he was slept on for a while, he's getting the credit now though which is great so he no longer is in this kind of conversation however one that comes to mind for me at the moment that probably should be more known is Cory Sandhagen.

I...

Dana's real job is to demote the fighters

I finally understood his working position. He is not a promoter, he is a demoter. His job is to keep the fighters down on earth. As soon as some fighter's stock get high, that fighter instantly wants a piece of the pie. That's when Dana steps in to confront his newly arisen star, to fight with him publicly, to use his star power to humiliate him. The idea is to put him down 'in his place', make him humble again. He did it to Conor, his biggest cash cow, he removed him from UFC 200, because...

Are endurance sports a valid “base” for MMA?

It’s not really a base per se.

Nevertheless you see guys like the Diaz bro’s, Colby etc. stick out like a sore thumb for their cardio.

So could an endurance athlete be fast tracked to the UFC in a relatively short space of time compared to the average guy?

Anybody notice some UFC (cage) fighters are absolutely terrified of outside the cage altercations?

I've seen many fighters look absolutely fearless / in the zone inside that cage (they do it for a living so obviously they're not "scared"), but display a lot of anxiety in backstage / outside the cage altercations / faceoffs.. are they just blacked out during the fight?

Masvidal keeps the same energy in and outside the cage.. same with Robbie. Askren and GSP are good example of guys you could tell want no smoke unless it's in a sanctioned fight inside the ring (not saying getting inside...

Anybody notice some UFC (cage) fighters are absolutely terrified of outside the cage altercations?

Name fighters that made you believe in their hype...

And promise to do this and that and then totally disappoint you fight time? I really thought Gus was going to bring his A game vs Jones 2 and you saw how that ended. After all that talk he looked like he just showed up to collect his check.
Your turn people!
